What To Expect
- When you first arrive, please sign in and get a name badge.
- We will have several chessboards available for play, so find an open board and sit. Introduce yourself, shake hands with the other player, determine who is white/black and begin play.
- If there are no chessboards open, you are welcome to watch others playing quietly.
- If there is a chessboard available and no one else is sitting there to play, please sit and wait for a challenger.
- The event ends at 8 PM. At 7:45 PM, we will announce to start wrapping up your existing games, please do not start new ones, and we will start putting up boards that are not occupied and cleaning up the area.
FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
- What ages are allowed to play?
All ages and skill levels are welcome to come and play. - Do I need to bring my chessboard?
That is not necessary. We provide boards for everyone to play, and some people bring their own as well, just in case there are not any available. Be sure to take your board home with you when you leave.
Notice:
We are an informal group, so people can come and go as needed. If you are bringing a child under the age of 13 to play chess, please do not leave your child at the group with a supervising adult to return later for pickup. All parents, guardians, or designated supervising adults are responsible for the child. If anyone is being disruptive to other chess players, they will be politely asked to review the rules posted at the welcome table.
